Youth camp shuttle available for families

Foundation For Youth will once again offer a daily shuttle from the Woodside and Walesboro area to Columbus Youth Camp.

The shuttle is for the Summer of Exploration program, which runs from May 23 to Aug. 4. FFY Director Chuck Kime said the Greater Columbus Indiana Economic Development Corp. is covering the cost of transportation and supporting discounts.

Drop-off is from 5:30-6:45 a.m.; pick-up is from 2:15-3:30 p.m. Both will take place at the Centra Credit Union located at 2010 W. County Road 450 South. Extended pick-up times are available to accommodate parents’ shifts.

The price for both camp and the shuttle is $62.50 per child per week for children whose parents work at a Woodside or Walesboro employer. The first week is free for the first 20 registrants that fall into this category.

Membership fees are also waived for these families, said Kime. Additional help may be available based on household income.

The regular weekly rate is $125 per child per week, with a sliding fee scale based on income. According to Kime, membership is an additional $25. He added, however, that they are “making every effort to include all comers.”

Advance registration is required. More information is available by going to foundationforyouth.com, calling 812-348-4558 ext. 0, or visiting FFY’s 405 Hope Ave. facility between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

The Summer of Exploration program is for children in grades K-12 for the 2021-22 school year. Activities include “swimming, hiking, crafts, outdoor exploration and more.”
