Jennings County High to stage ‘Grease’

“Grease” the musical will return to Jennings County High School on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 at 7 p.m. in the Don Pelkey Auditorium. The musical is under the direction of Lindsey Frey, director of choirs, and student director, junior Evan Cofer.

The musical “Grease” was first performed on Broadway on February 14, 1972. The setting of the story is 1959 and features all the favorites of sock hops, bobby socks, and rock ‘n’ roll music.

It is your typical comedic love story. The new girl at school, Sandy Dumbrowski, falls in love with the popular greaser, Danny Zuko, over the summer. Although the feelings were mutual, everything goes crazy with the start of school and Sandy’s surprise arrival at Rydell High while Danny tries to keep up his “bad boy” reputation.

The lead roles of Sandy and Danny will be played by senior Emma Jones and junior Bryson Webster. Joining the cast of more than 30 is a primarily student-run backstage and tech crew of 12, overseen by Sandra Eikelman and Patrick Frey.

We look forward to sharing the antics of Rydell High with you!
