Manowitz went 1 for 3 in a season-opening win against Austin and in Saturday’s 15-8 loss to Harrison, then went 4 for 5 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs and picked up the win on the mound in Saturday’s 17-11 win against Norwell.
His performance last week: “It’s always good to get two wins. I just want to keep improving and keep winning. The goal is to win every game.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “It’s all just kind of random.”

Rachel Cowan
Cowan threw a three-hit shutout and struck out 11 in five innings in a season-opening 11-0 win at East Central, then went 2 for 4 and threw a three-hit shutout and struck out 18 in Saturday’s 6-0 win at Terre Haute North.
Her performance last week: “Everybody helping me out and cheering me on, I think that really boosted my confidence on the mound.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “I usually just warm up and get info from my pitching coach Ron McDonald Jr., about how my pitches should be and everything like that.”
