4 P.M. Thursday update:
Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies are warning community residents to use caution if a stranger approaches their door as they continue to investigate a home invasion involving a gun that resulted in a physical assault of a female victim.
The incident occurred at 8 a.m. Wednesday near South County Road 400W and South County Road 400W and West County Road 450S, deputies said.
During the investigation, the victim stated that the suspect displayed a firearm. The victim was injured but her injuries were not life-threatening and she is recovering, investigators said Thursday.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for assistance if they observed any suspicious vehicles and/or persons in that area between 6 to 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Specifically, drivers who may have been on Deaver Road, County Roads 300W or 400W or on State Road 58 between 6 and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and noticed anyone walking along the roadway are asked to contact sheriff department detectives.
The individual was described as wearing a brown Carhart-type zip-up jacket, a black beanie cap and tan cargo pants, detectives said.
Deputies spent Wednesday searching the area and have reached out to surrounding agencies for any information to similar crimes.
