INDIANAPOLIS — Ali Patberg’s stay in the Indiana Fever’s training camp is over.

The Fever waived the former Columbus North and Indiana University standout guard on Thursday morning. The Fever had drafted Patberg with the 34th pick in the third round of last week’s WNBA Draft.

The 5-foot-11 Patberg had faced an uphill climb to make the Fever roster. She was the seventh of their seven draft picks and one of 22 players in training camp, which began Sunday. Rosters have to be cut down to 11 or 12 players before the regular season begins the first week of May.

The 2015 Indiana Miss Basketball, who helped lead North to the Class 4A state title that year and went on to help lead IU to the first back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances in school history, has indicated that she would play overseas if she does not land on a WNBA roster.
