North overcomes Owls

SEYMOUR — Columbus North overcame an early 2-0 deficit with four runs in the second and three in the third and went on to post a 9-3 win Thursday night at Seymour.

Dyllan Redmon had three hits and four RBIs, and Trent Bodart added two hits for the Bull Dogs (10-2-1). Zach Wager threw a four-hitter and struck out eight.

Jets blank Spartans

HOPE — Eli Miller threw a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts and went 2 for 3 at the plate to lead Hauser to a 5-0 Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Southwestern (Shelby).

Levi Gollmer went 2 for 2 for the Jets (7-7, 6-1), who managed six hits.

Cougars handle Mohawks

GREENSBURG — Trailing 5-3, South Decatur scored seven times in the bottom of the sixth and posted a 10-4 MHC win against Waldron.

Dale Peters went 3 for 3 with a triple, Evan Wullenweber went 3 for 3 with a double and Avery Seegers went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Cougars (12-2, 5-0). Peters and Seegers combined on a four-hitter.

Jackets edge Lancers

MORRISTOWN — Morristown pushed across a run in the bottom of the eighth to pull out a 4-3 MHC win against Edinburgh.

Riley Palmeter went 2 for 4 for the Lancers (2-9, 0-6).

SOFTBALL

North routs Falcons

Class 4A No. 8 Columbus North scored seven times in the first inning and cruised from there to a 15-0, five-inning win against Perry Meridian.

Maddi Rutan threw a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Bull Dogs (14-2). Lucy Norman went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Lillian Mackey had a home run and two RBIs and Kaylee Cowan had a double and two RBIs.

Bulldogs edge Panthers

NEW ALBANY — Jennings County outhit New Albany 5-3, but the Bulldogs claimed a 3-2 Hoosier Hills Conference win.

Kenzie Matern went 3 for 3 with a triple and a home run and threw a three-hitter for the Panthers (6-8, 0-2).

Lancers outscore Jackets

MORRISTOWN — MacKenzie Bieker went 3 for 3 with two home runs and four RBIs and struck out 15 in six innings in the circle to lead Edinburgh to an 18-11 MHC win at Morristown.

Carly Cowan went 2 for 4 with a triple, and Angel Carman went 2 for 4 for the Lancers (7-7, 3-4). Gracie Crawhorn went 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs.

Cougars run-rule Mohawks

GREENSBURG — South Decatur scored seven times in the first inning and five more in the second in a 14-3, five-inning MHC win against Waldron.

Lakota Henry went 2 for 3 with five RBIs for the Cougars (2-9, 1-2). Madison Mikulec and Brookyln Powers each added two RBIs.

Trinity tops Oldenburg

SEYMOUR — Kamzi Gross and Grace Lance combined on a two-hitter, and each had two RBIs at the plate to lead Trinity Lutheran to an 11-0, five-inning win against Oldenburg Academy.

Ally Russell had three hits for the Cougars (7-4). Bailey Tabeling added two hits.

GIRLS TENNIS

Jets slip past Cougars

HOPE — Trinity Lutheran won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, but Hauser claimed the other three to pull out a 3-2 victory.

Lydia Jordan beat Ella Christopher 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Jets (4-5). Hauser’s Gabby Johns and Charlie Clark topped Kiley Zabel and Carson Bowling 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Mattie Foster and Piper Rowell defeated Abby Yeadon and Natalee Martinez 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Trinity’s Sarah Lemming beat Bella Kilps 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Drew Hubbard topped Addyson Barriger 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

Panthers fall to Devils

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County won the No. 1 singles match, but dropped three others in a 3-1 loss to Jeffersonville.

Reagan Brown beat Addie Rose Scott 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles for the Panthers (4-6). Tatum Brown (JC) was trailing Eva Ellis 6-4, 4-3 at No. 2 singles when it was called because of rain.

Jennings’ Mia Silvey fell to Hayle Adams 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Maria Ecker Alberti and Lucy Brown lost to Alexis Evans and Sydney Adams 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Caitlyn Shuck and Amy Vogel fell to Kristen Elder and Abby Leep 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

BOYS GOLF

Jets take second

SHELBYVILLE — Hauser finished second in a tri match at Blue Bear. Host Morristown won with a 199 to 210 for the Jets and 239 for Waldron.

Caleb Wallace led Hauser with a 49. Jesse Bragg carded a 53, Bryce Kuntz added a 54, Chase Martoccia shot 54 and Brenden Burton had a 57.

Eagles stop Spartans

NASHVILLE — Cooper VanNess won medalist honors with a 46 to lead Brown County to a 190-196 win against Southwestern (Shelby) at Salt Creek.

Clay Austin carded a 47 for the Eagles. Kody Walsh added a 48, Eli Sichting shot 49, Bradley Arndt had a 52, Wesley Arndt added a 53, Liam Cassiday shot 54, Jordan Burnett had a 60 and Dylan Taylor finished with a 71.

Lancers fall to GCA

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh endured a 155-193 loss to Greenwood Christian Academy at Timbergate.

Max Blandford led the Lancers with a 42. Trevor Moon carded a 43, Mason Calhoun added a 51, Cash Cunningham shot 57, Wyatt Burton had a 58, Devin Hamilton shot 66 and Keegan Smith finished with a 67.

GIRLS LACROSSE

North downs Roncalli

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North went on the road and posted a 7-4 win at Roncalli.

Rylie Boezeman netted three goals for the Bull Dogs. Avery Stultz scored two goals, Meghan Ives had one goal and two assists and Kasey Kelley added one assist.

Claire King recorded 10 saves.

BOYS LACROSSE

North nips Cougars

Columbus North pulled out an 8-7 win against Bloomington North on Tuesday.

Owen Barkes netted three goals and one assist, and Christian Ortega scored two goals for the Bull Dogs. Evan Federle had one goal and two assists, Lucas Fedawa recorded one goal and one assist, Kameron Nielsen scored one goal and Curran O’Connor and Brayson Bennett each added one assist.

Bennett notched 13 saves.
