Bull Dogs take second

BLOOMINGTON — Luke Schneider fired a 73 Saturday at Cascades to lead Columbus North to a fourth-place finish in the Bloomington North Invitational.

No. 3 Center Grove won with a 311 to 315 for No. 1 Westfield. Floyd Central and the No. 14 Bull Dogs each shot 318, with the Highlanders taking third on the fifth-score tiebreaker.

Jack Schiavello carded an 80 for the Bull Dogs. Willy Davis added an 81, Tyler Wilks shot 84 and John Merritt had a 94.

Columbus East finished 13th with a 371. Carter Greene led the Olympians with an 88, while Spencer Erfmeier and Ben Luedeke each shot 93, J.T. Kuhlman added a 97 and Jared Brooks had a 105.

Lancers 4th, Jets 6th

Edinburgh finished fourth with a 383, and Hauser took sixth with a 406 in the Hauser Invitational at Otter Creek. Greenwood Christian Academy won with a 330.

Max Blandford led the Lancers with a 78. Mason Calhoun added 93, Trevor Moon and Cash Cunningham each shot 106 and Devyn Milburn had a 123.

Chase Martoccia led the Jets with a 92. Caleb Wallace carded a 99, Bryce Kunze added a 101, Jesse Bragg shot 118 and Brenden Burton had a 114.

The Columbus East JV finished ninth with a 418. Conrad Eggers led the Olympians with a 98, while Jonathan Rush carded a 99, Keaton Stephenson added a 110, Josh Saewert shot 111 and J.R. Hughes had a 134.

Panthers finish ninth

BATESVILLE — Jennings County finished ninth with a 397 in the Batesville Invitational at Hillcrest Country Club. Madison won with a 321.

Jack George led the Panthers with an 87. Jake Grider carded a 101, Davey Shaw added a 104, Tanner Stearns shot 105 and Eli Simmons had a 107.

BASEBALL

Panthers edge Jets

HOPE — Hauser’s Owen McIntyre threw a three-hitter, but two Jennings County pitchers combined on a three-hitter, as well, in a 3-2 Panthers victory.

Austin Martin gave up three hits in six innings, and Keegan Manowitz struck out all three batters he faced in the seventh to earn the save for the Panthers (16-7). Logan McIntosh went 2 for 2 with a double.

Koby Johnson went 2 for 3 for the Jets (9-9).

SOFTBALL

Patriots sweep Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County dropped a pair of games to Terre Haute North, falling 8-2 and 12-4.

Kenzie Matern went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs in the opener.

In the second game, Ashley Meade went 2 for 2, and Delaynee McCreary went 2 for 3 with a home run for the Panthers (8-13). Kassidy Beal also homered.

Tigers top Panthers

LAWRENCEBURG — Jennings County won the No. 2 singles match, but Lawrenceburg took the other four in handing the Panthers a 4-1 defeat.

Tatum Brown beat Sarah McAndrew 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (8-9).

Jennings’ Reagan Brown fell to Elle McMullen 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Mia Silvey lost to Emma Meyer 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Lucy Brown and Maria Alberti fell to Lola Safaviyan and Ella McAndrew 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Cailtyn Schuck and Sophia Lucas lost to Ryleigh Offutt and Ella Shelton 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
