About 100 high school students recently went through a one-day seminar on leadership and personal growth.
The Council for Youth Development held its Youth Empowerment Summit at the Columbus Learning Center on April 29.
According to CYD Director Heather Carson, 108 students registered for the event, and nearly all invited students chose to participate.
The summit featured an address from Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop and a keynote speech from Tyshaun Allen with Taylor Bros. Construction Co., Inc. and the Columbus Area Multi-Ethnic Organization. There were also breakout sessions on different life skills, a discussion panel on life after high school, and a ceremony to announce and recognize the 2022-23 Youth Ambassador Cohort.
