Luke Schneider // Columbus North senior golfer

Schneider won medalist honors with a 35 in a tri match at The Legends, won medalist with a 72 in a win over Columbus East at Otter Creek and finished second with a 73 in Saturday’s Bloomington North Invitational at Cascades.

His performance last week: “For my total performances, I was pretty happy. I lost the tournament (Saturday) on a bogey on the last hole, so I was pretty upset with that, but I was pretty happy with the way I performed with the overall conditions.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “This year, I’ve started reading a golf book by Bob Rotella, ‘The Golfer’s Mind.’ It’s helped me with the mental aspect, which has helped me become a better golfer.”

Favorite drink: “Dr. Pepper”

Favorite food: “Sushi”

Favorite class: “Hoosiers (a basketball-playing PE class)”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University”

Favorite athlete: “Tiger Woods”

Role model: “My dad (Broc Schneider)”

Best advice: “Live in the moment and not in the past.”

Athletics goal: “For our team to make it to state, and for me to finish top-10 at state.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Carbondale, Colorado, because of the fascinating views and great golf and fishing.”

Wilson won No. 1 singles matches 6-2, 6-0 in a 5-0 win against Terre Haute South; 6-0, 6-0 in a 5-0 win over Bloomington South and 6-1, 6-0 in a 5-0 win against Center Grove.

Her performance last week: “I think I played well, and I think the whole team did well against everybody we played.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “A lot of times, I will think about who I’m playing and come up with strategies for that specific person and get mentally prepared throughout the day and make sure I’m warmed up before the match.”

Favorite drink: “Chick-Fil-A lemonade.”

Favorite class: “Jewelry and Glass”

Favorite sports team: “Purdue”

Role model: “My mom (Mary Beth Wilson)”

Best advice: “My grandma always tells me, ‘If she believes she can, she will.’”

Athletics goal: “To win state this this year as a team and individually.”

If you could travel anywhere: “I really want to go back to Belgium because I lived there when I was in fifth and sixth grade, and I just want to see everything where I used to live.”
