Dale Albert Arnholt, 94, of Columbus, IN, passed away at on May 10, 2022, at his home.

He was born in Bartholomew County on March 27, 1928, the son of Albert Arnholt, and Edna Whipker Arnholt. He married Marianne Wendell, June 27, 1948.

Dale farmed all of his life and loved John Deere equipment. He received several awards and recognitions throughout his farming career. He received the Goodyear, NACD Conservation Award of Merit for outstanding accomplishments in resource conservation (SWCD) of his farm in Bartholomew County in 1992. He also received, in 1993, the Gilman O’Neal Conservation Farmer of the Year Award. He received this for his long-time dedication and stewardship to the soil and water resources. He planted over 300 trees, and built and installed more than 30 bluebird boxes. His motto was. “If you don’t take care of the soil, future generations won’t have anything.” He was also a director on the REMC board.

He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving as a trustee, elder, and member of the cemetery board. He lived by his confirmation verse: “If you continue in my word, you are my disciple, and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”

Dale loved hunting, fishing, and watching basketball games, especially Purdue. He truly loved when his family was gathered together.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Tom (Mary Kay) Arnholt, Barbara (Steve) Sorgius, Bev (Steve) Chinn, Mary (Carl) Shaffer, and Tim (Angie) Arnholt; 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, soon to be 7.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd (Dorothy) Arnholt; and sister, Lorena (Wilbur) Hoeltke.

Service will be at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Clifty with calling hours from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
