Danny G. James, 84, of Columbus, passed away at Hospice on April 12 of this year.

He was born to Webber and MaryBelle James, who preceded him in death.

Danny was married to Raye Louise James, who survives. They had 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren, with 2 more great-grandchildren on the way.

Danny had many hobbies, including music, woodworking, camping, and fishing. He loved to build things from airboats to welders and log-splitters. He also built musical instruments.

His love for music began around the age of 10 when he was on a radio program. At age 15, he began teaching Hawaiian guitar at the famous Harlin Brothers Studio in downtown Indianapolis. From that point forward, he was either teaching or playing all kinds of guitars, and also lead a band called “The Sounds of Yesterday.” They performed at many nursing homes and county fairs for over 40 years.

He is preceded in death by a grandson, a son-in-law, his oldest son, and a granddaughter’s husband.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, no services are planned. Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
