Columbus firefighters make a Target run

Mike Wolanin | The Republic Columbus firefighters investigate a light ballast short at Target on Sunday afternoon.

Columbus firefighters were sent to Target after receiving reports of “sparks in the ceiling” near the grocery area toward the back of the store.

The call came in at about 12:40 p.m. Sunday and a ladder truck was used to examine the building’s roof as part of the investigation.

Firefighters determined a light ballast had shorted out, causing the appearance of a fire. No injuries were reported and the store remained open.
