Club Olympia swimmers ‘duel’ and ‘dual’ in two states

In the past week, Club Olympia swimmers competed in Houston against Team Illinois and Team Gulf, as members of the Team Indiana All Stars at the “Duel in the Pool,” as well as in a 14-and-under “Dual” meet with the Franklin Regional Swim Team.

Ashley Freel and Joshua Pendleton represented Club Olympia on the Team Indiana All Stars. Freel finished third in the 200 butterfly, fifth in the 100 butterfly, sixth in 200 freestyle and 10th in the 100 backstroke. Freel was also part of two top-six relay teams for Team Indiana.

Pendleton finished 3rd in the 11-12 Boys 400 freestyle and sixth in the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley. Pendleton was also part of two top-10 relay teams.

On Tuesday, Club Olympia’s 14U swimmers were invited to compete in a dual meet with FRST. Arjun Agarkar swam to two personal records and swam on two relays. Sarthak Deshmukh dropped four seconds for a new 50 Freestyle PR. Cali Gray dropped 16 seconds in the Girls 10U 50 backstroke.

Saya Hauser had another PR in the Girls 13-14 100 freestyle, improving her Divisional cut time achieved a little over a week ago at the FAST 500 meet. Aubrey Hernandez swam to two personal records,

including a two-second drop in the Girls 11-12 100 freestyle and nearly eight-second drop in the 100 backstroke. Nandini Kondhare swam to a five-second improvement in the Girls 11-12 200 freestyle.

Shreyan Kulkarni PR’d in the Boys 10U 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle. Tony Machavariani dropped just under a 1/3-second in the Boys 10U 50 backstroke. Emily Meek had a PR in the Girls 10U 50 backstroke.

Lane Mellencamp still swimming “Unattached-Club Olympia” while in his 120-day transfer period, achieved best times in the Boys 13-14 100 backstroke and 200 IM. Jasper Nickoll swam best times in both the Boys 13-14 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Aksh Ranjan PR’d in the Boys 13-14 100 breaststroke.

Chad Pendleton PR’d in the Boys 10U 50 backstroke with a three-second time drop. Joshua Pendleton, who had just returned from the Duel in the Pool in Texas, was still able to swim to a new best time in the Boys 11-12 100 breaststroke. Lily Pendleton added to her Divisional cut collection with a new cut in the Girls 10U 50 butterfly. Bella Zhang achieved best times in both the Girls 10U 50 backstroke and 50 freestyle with nine- and seven-second drops, respectively.

Other Club Olympia swimmers that had a strong showing despite just competing a little over a week earlier at the FAST 500 were Aarush Datar, Aahan Gupta, Aahana Ingole, Myra Jaryal, Adir Joshi, Vidita Keskar, Sanaa Kulkarni, Teddy Machavariani, Shourya Malviya, Lovely Panda, Vivan Shah and Xavier Zhang.

Next up is a trip to Annapolis, Maryland, where several club members have been invited to attend the exclusive Age Group and Senior Elite swim camps hosted by Team Indiana at the United States Naval Academy. Club Olympia will also have several members competing at the Central Zone Multi-Cultural meet in Evansville in mid-June, as well as contributing several swimmers to Team Indiana’s effort at the Open Water Zones competition in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Club Olympia’s next major club competition will be at the Riviera Club in Indianapolis in late June.
