Deputies arrest two on drug-related charges

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested two people on drug-related charges after a traffic stop at 12:52 a.m. Friday at Jonathan Moore Pike and Goeller Boulevard on Columbus’ west side.

Deputy Billy Bryant conducted the traffic stop and Deputy Brandon Sellers and K9 Jari arrived on scene when Jari alerted to narcotics inside the vehicle. Deputies located drug-related paraphernalia.

During the investigation it was determined that a male passenger, identified as Bryan Maddin, 34, of 3802 Balsam Drive, Columbus, was in possession of a narcotic drug and a used syringe, deputies said.

He was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia, jail officials said. He remains in jail in lieu of $67,500 bond.

A female, identified as Melany Maddin, 34, Ellettsville, was also arrested on preliminary charges of possession of syringe and possession of paraphernalia, jail officials said. She remains in jail in lieu of $60,000 bond, jail officials said.
