Banquet celebration planned for retiring Bishop Charles A. Sims and Pastor Jane Sims

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Longtime community leaders Bishop Charles A. Sims and Pastor Jane Sims, founders of Calvary Community Church in downtown Columbus, are retiring after 47 years of ministry.

A banquet celebration of the married couple’s life and work will be at 6:30 p.m. July 22 at The Commons, 300 Washington St. in downtown Columbus.

The two have been vocal about issues such as equality, racial harmony, academic achievement, and much more in their time here. They have mentored and trained many others who now serve in the ordained ministry.

Pastor Jane Sims

Columbus resident the Rev. Frank Griffin, pastor of Thy Kingdom Come Ministries in Greenwood, will become the new pastor of Calvary after the Sims’ departure from their leadership post.

Banquet tickets are $50 for those 13 years old or older and $25 for for those 12 years old and younger.
