HARTSVILLE

Lois Pauline Olmstead, 91, of Hartsville passed away Monday July 4, 2022 at her home.

Born November 8, 1930 in Columbus, she was the daughter of Omer and Velma Burns Jones. She married Clifford Olmstead September 3, 1949 at Bethel Baptist Church and they enjoyed 69 years together. He preceded her in death in 2019.

Lois was the most caring and compassionate person. She was beautiful inside as well as outside. She had beautiful gray hair and loved going to the beauty shop to get it done every week. She got several compliments everywhere she went. She was well known for her homegrown corn, homemade noodles and fried chicken. Lois liked gardening, flowers and hummingbirds.

Lois was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church and Spoon and Thimble Home Economics Club.

Lois had previously been employed at Kalers Candy and Tobacco Company (where she met her husband), Irwin Union Bank, Malcolm Ross Jewelry and the last place she was employed at was Elder-Beerman in the fragrance and costume jewelry department where she had several customers.

Lois is survived by son, Dennis Olmstead of Greenfield; daughter, Brenda Olmstead of Columbus; a sister, Charlotte Brooks of Indianapolis; grandson, Jason D. (Sarah) Williams of Bloomington and several nieces and nephews.

Lois’s funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Visitation for Lois is Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope and Saturday one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
