Kimberly D. “Kimi” (Wheatley) Mikels, 57, of Franklin passed away at her residence on Sunday, July 17, 2022.
She was born on January 11, 1965 in Louisville, Kentucky to her mother, JoAnn (Lindsey) Taylor of Indianapolis. Kimberly lived in Louisville, then Hagerstown, Md, before moving to Indianapolis. She is a 1983 graduate of Perry Meridian High School. She went on to work many various jobs, but most recently, Franklin Community Schools as a cook, and Susan Jones Cleaning.
She was an avid Coach purse and shoe collector, and an avid Elvis Presley fan. She enjoyed watching rodeos and going to concerts. Her greatest joy and enjoyment in life was spending time with her loving daughters.
She is survived by her mother JoAnn; loving husband David Ray Mikels of Franklin; daughters, Kelley Mikels and Kenzie Mikels, both of Franklin; stepson, Sean Mikels (Katie) of Brownstown; two grandchildren Carter and Bentlee Mikels; sister, Kathy Pryor (Steve) of Indianapolis; brother, Barry Taylor of Indianapolis, brother Kenneth Wheatley (Sue) and sister Karen Wheatley Laws both of Louisville, Kentucky. Kimi was also survived by her mother and father-in-law, David and Judy Mikels of Columbus, and several Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Nieces and Cousins. She was preceded in passing by her step-father, Russ Taylor; cousin, Becky Sue (Lindsey) Carter; Uncles; Dennis and Eddie Lindsey; sister Kathy Wheatley Shrader; and several friends.
A service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Thursday, July 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at First Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
