Joseph Sexton

COLUMBUS, INDIANA

Joseph Sexton, 90, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 1:08 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2022, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Mr. Sexton was born in Kokomo, Indiana, April 13, 1932, the loving son of Joseph C. and Callie Wood Sexton. On November 2, 1956, Joseph married Fran Lawson; she survives.

Mr. Sexton was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War era; he was honorably discharged September 16, 1954. Mr. Sexton retired from The Ford Motor Company after many years of service. He will be remembered as a talented and accomplished author, artist, musician, songwriter, and carpenter.

Mr. Sexton was a faithful member of the Spraytown Free Methodist Church.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Fran; children, Steve (Chris) Sexton of Monrovia, Indiana and Kim (Douglas) Harper of Columbus; grandchildren, Skylar Sexton of Monrovia, Indiana and Sarah Pedraza of Indianapolis; and his sister, Ruth Lowe of Seymour.

Mr. Sexton was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Callie Sexton; three brothers; and three sisters.

The Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Spraytown Free Methodist Church, 2372 East State Road 58, Seymour, Indiana 47274.

Private inurnment will take place at the Spraytown Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spraytown Free Methodist Church. Full military honors will be provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
