Letter: Lawmakers’ abortion ban plan shouldn’t embarrass Indiana

From: Lee Shipman

I don’t want to spend too much time detailing what I think are the optimum provisions surrounding abortion access for the state of Indiana to be addressed in the special legislation session. However, I hope at the absolute minimum that Indiana continues to be a safe state for a fifth-grader to terminate an unwanted pregnancy in the situation that this young girl from Ohio found herself in.

I am fairly confident that a new law forcing fifth-graders to carry a pregnancy to term is not the overwhelming preference of fellow Hoosiers.

Please do not embarrass us.
