North Vernon police were sent to the park where K9 Officer Shane Trepanier said motor oil and cat litter had been dumped into the pool area overnight. Trepanier obtained security camera footage from the incident.

North Vernon detectives began taking tips and identifying the suspects.
This led to security camera footage of the potential suspects making a purchase of cat litter and motor oil at a local business approximately an hour before the crime, Richmond said.
