Columbus firefighters responded to two early morning fires Saturday that remain under investigation.
Firefighters responded to 1812 Newton St. at approximately 3:58 a.m. for a report of a residential fire, said Capt. Mike Wilson, Columbus Fire Department spokesman.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke coming from the residence. Firefighters entered the residence and found extensive fire which was quickly extinguished. Damages to the home are estimated at $95,000.
At approximately 4:03 a.m., fire was reported from a detached garage at 903 19th St., Wilson said. When firefighters arrived on the scene they reported the garage heavily involved in fire. Heat from the flames caused damage to the home’s vinyl siding. The garage was considered a total loss. Damages are estimated at $30,000.
No injuries were reported at either of the fires, Wilson said.
