Jane Margaret Frede was born November 3rd, 1922 in Michigan City, Indiana to Wallace L and Jessie Margaret Gilmore and died on August 18th, 2022 in Columbus, Indiana.
Jane Graduated from Ball State Teachers College in 1943. She became a grade school teacher in Michigan City and Cincinnati, Ohio, and later a substitute teacher in Columbus.
On September 20, 1947, Jane married Raymond V. Frede. They began their married life in Cincinnati and had three children, Michael R. Frede, William W. Frede and Margaret J. Frede. In 1958, the Frede family moved to Columbus which became their home.
Most important to Jane were her family, her church, St Paul’s Episcopal, her home, and her friends. Jane was an inveterate letter writer with her distinct and neat penmanship. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Jefferson School, Girl Scouts, and Mill Race Center.
Jane will dearly be missed by her children, Bill and Margaret. She is survived by her grandchildren, Kelly Collins, and Sean Frede; and great grandson, William C Frede. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son, Michael; and four siblings.
The family asks that any memorials to Jane be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2651 California Street, Columbus, IN 47201.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; The Reverend Kathryn Thomas will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Mrs. Frede will be laid to rest next to her husband in Section 87 in the Garland Brook Cemetery.
