Two arrested after investigation into drugs found at residence

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two persons were arrested on drug charges after an investigation by CPD officers on Tuesday evening. At approximately 5:30 p.m., CPD officers observed Jared A. Harris, 38, of Columbus and Kyla R. Wicker, 26, of Columbus enter a residence in the 1400 block of Seventh Street. Officers confirmed a no contact order between
Wicker and Harris and spoke with them at the residence, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

While inside the home, officers observed a glass pipe with white residue inside of it, police said.

Harris and Wicker were detained and officers applied for and later received a search warrant for the residence. During a search of the residence, officers located approximately 100 grams of methamphetamine, a .45 caliber handgun, a small amount of heroin, along with marijuana, legend drugs and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Harris and Wicker were placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail. Preliminary charges were:
–Jared Harris: Felony dealing in methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of a legend drug injection device, felony possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, felony possession of a legend drug  and misdemeanor invasion of privacy.
–Kyla Wicker: Felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET), which is a combined unit of the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, assisted with this ongoing investigation.
