WETERVILLE, OH
Barbara Ann Burgess Piper, age 79, Westerville, Ohio, passed away August 21, 2022, at Kobacker House, Columbus Ohio. Barbara was born on December 31, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Richard and Idabelle (Moore) Burgess. Barbara was married to Dennis Piper for 57 years.
A graduate of Linden-McKinley High School and the Ohio State University (BS-Ed), Barbara was an elementary school teacher for the Columbus (Ohio) Public Schools before moving to Columbus, Indiana in 1970. There, she taught at the Presbyterian Preschool Center and served as the Director – Teacher for Community Activities at Fodrea School.
Barbara was active in First United Methodist Church (Columbus, Indiana) and Church of the Master United Methodist (Westerville, Ohio).
She is survived by her daughter Emily (West Des Moines, IA) her son Matthew (Lisa) (Highland, MI), grandchildren; Austin, Claire, Brandon and Jacob, her siblings; Richard (Jen), Betty Hamilton and Jerry (Michelle) and many other relatives.
Memorial services will be held September 17, 2:00 pm at Church of the Master United Methodist, 24 N. Grove Street, Westerville, Ohio 43081, where family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm. A reception will be held following the service until 4:00 pm.
