Duckworth gets state utility honor

Columbus City Utilities’ manager of operations Randy Duckworth received the Indiana Water Environment Association’s Operator of the Year Award at its annual meeting Aug. 18.

The IWEA cited Duckworth’s “long-standing contribution to the success of his Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF), service that goes above-and-beyond the requirements of the position, and a positive attitude”.

Duckworth has worked with Columbus City Utilities since 1979 in various positions, including meter reader, wastewater treatment operator, wastewater treatment plant mechanic, wastewater treatment residuals technician, and wastewater treatment plant superintendent. He has served as manager of operations since 2017.

Duckworth was recognized as IWEA Operator of the Year due to the many qualities he brings to the utility. These include his expertise that results in better plant performance, and his willingness to train, mentor and encourage the next generation of operators.
