North downs Artesians

Columbus North rallied from a close first-set setback Thursday to claim a 23-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-15 victory against Martinsville.

Karen Dutro led the Bull Dogs (4-6) with 18 kills, four blocks and five aces. Reese Edwards recorded 16 assists, Kaitlin White had four blocks and Emily Stair notched 12 digs.

Also for North, Katelynn Mabis pounded eight kills, and Logan Branstetter added five kills. Emma Burns tallied 13 assists, and Rylie Boezeman had five digs.

Jets fall to Batesville

BATESVILLE — Hauser won the second set, but Batesville recovered to post a 25-17, 17-25, 25-16, 25-20 win.

Kenze Bostic led the Jets (7-3) with 11 kills, four blocks and five aces. Adrianna Musillami recorded 30 assists, and Charlie Clark notched 17 digs.

Clark also pounded nine kills, while Aniston Bostic added eight kills and one block, and Paige McDaniel had four kills and one block. Kyra Meister contributed three assists and 16 digs, Mattie Foster had two assists and two aces, Gracie Blair added 10 digs and Musillami served two aces.

Eagles top Cougars

NASHVILLE — Brown County picked up a 25-17, 25-13, 25-23 win at South Decatur.

Londyn Koester led the Eagles (4-6) with 16 digs and three aces. Abigail Watson pounded 11 kills, Morgan Osborn recorded 10 assists and Anna Stogsdill had four blocks.

The Cougars fell to 7-7.

Lancers sweep Spartans

SHELBYVILLE — Edinburgh remained unbeaten in the Mid-Hoosier Conference with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-18 win at Southwestern (Shelby).

Gracie Crawhorn led the Lancers (10-2, 3-0) with 13 blocks, eight blocks and 16 digs. Kyah Streeval recorded 30 assists, and MacKenzie Bieker served six aces.

Also for Edinburgh, Bieker notched six kills, two blocks and 11 digs. Jessica Walsh added five kills and 12 digs, and Zoey Sida and Mia Dodson each had two blocks.

Trinity sweeps CAI

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran rolled to a 25-15, 25-19, 25-15 win against Christian Academy of Indiana.

Laura Roeder led the Cougars (7-4) with 13 digs and three aces. Bailey Tabeling pounded 16 kills, Addison Darlage recorded 32 assists and Carson Bowling had three blocks.

Pioneers edge East

CLARKSVILLE — Columbus East outshot Class A No. 3 Providence 14-10, but the Pioneers claimed a 1-0 victory.

Anna Liimatta recorded seven saves for the Olympians (1-3-2).

North outscores Southport

INDIANAPOLIS — Ava Bunker fired a 2-under-par 32 to lead Columbus North to a 154-195 win against Southport at Southern Dunes.

Erin Hopkins carded a personal-best 35 for the Bull Dogs. Ritisha Rashmil added a 42, Lindsey Hartwell shot 45 and Nettie Meeks had a 52.

East downs Shelbyville

SHELBYVILLE — Carter Gant won medalist honors with a 41 to lead Columbus East to a 175-220 win against Shelbyville at Bear Chase.

Lilly Steinwedel carded a 42 for the Olympians, while Katie Hong and Grace LaSell, who had a personal-best, each shot 46. Dyana Foster added a personal-best 47, Avery Brooks shot 50 and Ali Trueblood had a 54.

BOYS TENNIS

Panthers top East

Jennings County won four matches in straight sets to hand Columbus East a 4-1 defeat.

Owen Law beat Erik Takahashi 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Parker Bales topped Matthew Degner 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (7-2). Jennings’ Ryan Schuck and Justin Ramey defeated Ethan Bumbalough and Jacob Dettmer 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Alex Leach and Janne Sebastian beat Henry Ulrich and Tyler Ernst 7-6 (4), 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

The point for the Olympians (4-4) came at No. 3 singles, where Brady Redelman topped Ty Zohrlaut 6-2, 4-6, (11-9).

Braves blank Jets

HOPE — Hauser came close at No. 1 singles, but Indian Creek won that match in three sets and the other four in straight sets to post a 5-0 victory.

Caleb Wallace fell to Peyton Strunk 6-2, 4-6, (11-9) at No. 1 singles. Jackson Burcham lost to Brendan Conner at #2 singles, and Hagan Wiedersatz fell to Grant Dalton at No. 3 singles, both by 6-0, 6-1 scores for the Jets (3-7).

Hauser’s Levi Gollmer and Hunter Pappano lost to Aiden Pemberton and Landon Sichting 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Jentzen Bechtel and Kameron Blair fell to Aaron Spurgeon and Trent Volv 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh swept the singles matches, and won another by forfeit in a 4-1 MHC win against Southwestern (Shelby).

Max Blandford Kyle Beck beat 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Austin Brockman downed Carter Snapp 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Milas Burkman topped James Oliver 3-6, 6—3, (10-8) at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (2-6). Teddy Crawhorn and Jayson Music won by forfeit at No. 2 doubles.

Edinburgh’s Bailey Totten and Braylon Lenkner fell to Chris Cecil and Josh Wenjer 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

Patriots stop Eagles

NASHVILLE — Owen Valley won three matches in straight sets and the other two by forfeit in a 5-0 Western Indiana Conference win at Brown County

Jack Sichting fell to Rhet Heckman 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Owen East lost to Caleb Bixler 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Eagles (2-9, 0-3). Jon Kirchoffer and Sawyer Gore fell to Kage Brown and Drew Kristoff 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

Hauser ties Trinity

HOPE — Hauser scored its first two goals of the season in a 2-2 tie with Trinity Lutheran.

Zach Weichman and Colton Wallace scored the goals for the Jets (0-3-1). Elian Escalante and Alex Bower had assists.

Trinity (1-4-2) outshot Hauser 13-10. Will Walters posted seven saves for the Jets.

Jennings falls to Floyd

FLOYDS KNOBS — Jennings County scored on its only shot, but Floyd Central came away with a 15-1 Hoosier Hills Conference win.

Keiton Miller had the goal for the Panthers (1-6, 0-1).
