ColumBus has trial run on Route 1

ColumBus Transit will try out a new version of Route 1 for two months, starting on Tuesday and ending Nov. 5.

The route includes new designated stops, which will be marked by signs. The Route 1 bus will only stop at designated stops along its route.

“We will also be changing the route somewhat to serve the community more efficiently,” transit officials said. A flier with a map of the changes can be found on the department’s website and social media.

One such change is that the amended route will no longer service Arnold Drive.

Passengers are encouraged to fill out a survey on the trial route. The form seeks input on topics such as how frequently passengers use the route, how they feel about changes, if the new route causes them to walk further to catch the bus, and whether or not they would “experience hardship if Route 1 no longer went all the way to Arnold Street.”

To learn more about the changes and access the survey, visit the department’s Facebook page or go to columbus.in.gov/columbus-transit/transit-map/. There are Spanish options for both the survey and map.

Additionally, residents with questions, comments or concerns can call 812-376-2506 or email [email protected].

ColumBus Transit will be closed on Monday for Labor Day.
