COLUMBUS
Karen J. York, 63, of Columbus, died at 7:46 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2022, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana.
Karen was born October 21, 1958 in Columbus, the daughter of Henry Griffin and Lucille Frances (Todd) Newsome. She married David L. York, on December 14, 1992. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2021.
Karen was married to David, the love of her life for 31 years. Some of Karen’s favorite things to do were, shopping, tanning, getting her nails done and swimming. Karen was an avid bowler and a member of the Columbus Bowling league. Karen loved taking care of her vegetable garden. She was very close to her Lear family after working there for several years. Family and friends meant everything to Karen, especially her niece, Laci, who was more like her daughter. Karen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Calling will be from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday.
Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana through the funeral home.
Survivors include her father, Henry and step-mother, Janet Griffin; nieces; Laci Green and Kathi Olmstead, both of Columbus and Sierra Moore, of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, Kevin Newsome, of Edinburgh, Greg (Jennie) Griffin, of Greensburg, Steve Griffin, of Columbus, Dan (Tammy) Hale, of Columbus, and Geoff (Sabrina) Hale, of Westport; sisters, Connie Wade, of St. Louis, MI. Pamela Newsome, of Columbus, and Cathy Kelley, of Columbus; grandchildren, Lexi Green, and Jamey Burkhart, both of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and brothers, Randall Griffin, and Keith Newsome.
