Spartans topple Eagles, Chargers in tennis

The Northside Middle School boys tennis team improved to 3-0 with a 5-0 win against Brown County and a 4-1 victory against Central.

Winners for the Spartans against Brown County were Advait Aras, Shashu Sabapathy and Vyom Desai in singles matches, and the doubles teams of Cale Fitzsimmons/Andrew Huang and Chandan Munnaluri/Alex Zeng. Aras, Sabapathy and Desai won singles matches, and Fitzsimmons and Andrew Huang captured their doubles matches against Central.

Northside won the JV match against Brown County 5-0 and lost the JV match to Central 4-0. Doubles teams of Nicolas Moran Mendez/Shun Nakano, Armando Duran-Blanc/Niranjan Pillai and Sebastian Hartwell/Vitor Potenza won for the Spartans against Brown County.

GIRLS SOCCER

East JV wins, ties

The Columbus East junior varsity went 1-0-1 in two road games last week, beating Franklin 1-0 on Tuesday and tying Providence 2-2 on Thursday.

Sophie Glick scored the goal against Franklin. Kira VanValkenburg had the assist.

VanValkenburg and Sophia Leach netted goals against Providence for the Olympians (1-1-3). Emma Christie and Kate Stiles had assists. Stiles posted two saves.

Panthers sweep Chargers

Jennings County Middle School swept Central on Monday, winning the seventh-grade game 25-11, 25-8 and the eighth-grade contest 25-11, 25-6.

Kenna Sents pounded eight kills, and Aniston Kent served eight aces to lead the Panther seventh-graders.

For the Jennings eighth-graders, Aylan Belding pounded 10 kills, Paige Hack notched three digs and Lilly Franks served six aces.

The Panther eighth-graders (10-3) came back Thursday with a 25-7, 25-4 win against Southwestern. Belding, Khylee Barlow and Etta Young all had three kills, and Milly Gresham served nine aces.

Panthers blank Owls

Jennings County Middle School picked up its first win of the season Tuesday, a 6-0 victory against Seymour.

Kyle Byram scored on a 1-yard run for the Panthers (1-3).

BOYS SOCCER

Jennings ties Madison

Jennings County Middle School and Madison played to a 2-2 tie on Thursday.

Jacob Ferguson and Kaleb McIntosh scored goals for the Panthers. Bryson Scroggin posted five saves.
