Hauser sweeps Yellow Jackets

HOPE — Right from the opening serve, it became quite clear visiting Morristown was outmatched against Hauser in Tuesday night’s Mid-Hoosier Conference matchup.

The Yellow Jackets didn’t go away quietly, but the Jets set the pace enough throughout the match to cruise to a 25-14, 25-19, 25-8 victory.

Case used different rotations throughout the match to get his younger players some varsity action, and it showed at times. Hauser (9-3, 1-0) led the first set 6-1, but Morristown (2-9, 0-3) fought back and tied it up on a couple occasions, but the Jets eventually pulled away for a 1-0 lead in the match.

The rotation was mixed for the remainder of the match, but it didn’t matter as Hauser found a way to get the sweep.

“It’s important to get more experience and be more comfortable,” Case said. “If something happens and you‘ve got to plug them in, they have that experience so it’s not the first time and they’ll be more comfortable. If they’re comfortable, they’re going to make plays.

“You get an opportunity to play, you can get better no matter what, and we need to take advantage of those opportunities,” he added. “That’s what we talked about between (Sets) 2 and 3, and they came out and responded.”

For the Jets, Adrianna Musillami tallied 25 assists; Kenze Bostic finished with 13 kills and three blocks; Charlie Clark had 10 digs, seven kills and two aces; Kyra Meister added 11 digs and two aces; Kayden Miller finished with three kills, two aces and one block; Aniston Bostic had three kills; Mattie Foster notched 13 digs and two aces and Paige McDaniel added one kill.

Hauser’s schedule beefs up the next three matches when the Jets travel to take on Class 4A Shelbyville on Thursday, a home matchup with Waldron on Friday that could factor into which team will win the MHC title this year and a match with one of the better 4A teams in Seymour on Monday.

“We’re going to stay on the path and keep heading in the right direction, and we’re doing that,” Case said. “We just need them to play with more urgency and energy.”
