Cooper Horn // Columbus North senior football player

Horn caught nine passes for a school-record 224 yards and a school record-tying four touchdowns Friday to lead the Bull Dogs to a 47-14 win at Southport.

His performance last week: “I felt good about it, but I couldn’t have done it without my O-line, and my quarterback (Zac Horn) throwing me the ball. He put it in spots where I could succeed.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I’ll listen to some music with the team, but on my own, I don’t really do anything too specific.”

Favorite drink: “Dr. Pepper”

Favorite food: “Pizza”

Favorite class: “My mom’s (Stacey Horn’s) medical terminology class”

Favorite sports team: “Oklahoma City Thunder”

Favorite athlete: “LeBron James”

Role model: “My dad (Will Horn).”

Best advice: “Take every day like it’s your last because you never know when an injury could pop up, and your season could be over with, so just embrace every day.”

Athletics goal: “To play college sports at any level.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Australia, just because I’ve seen some pictures from there and it looks like a pretty cool place.”

Maddie Cline

Cline led the Olympians with 28 kills and six aces and added 16 digs in four matches Saturday to help them to a 1-3 record in the Providence Invitational.

Her performance last week: “I think that we could have done a lot better against Jennings County, but over the weekend, I think we played really well as a team together. We had a lot of girls playing different positions that they don’t normally play, and I think everybody just did really well.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “During practice, we’ll go through the rotations that we’re trying to do during the game.”

Favorite drink: “Lemonade.”

Favorite food: “Mac and cheese”

Favorite class: “AP Biology.”

Favorite sports team: “Purdue.”

Favorite athlete: “Serena Williams”

Role model: “My parents (Nathan and Megan Cline).”

Best advice: “Keep working as hard as you can, no matter what.”

Athletics goal: “Jump higher and hit harder.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Greece, because I think it’s beautiful.”
