Brady Beyer
Columbus East senior Brady Beyer has been selected as a 2021-22 Scholastic All-American in swimming.
To qualify for the honor, swimmers must have at least one winter junior national time standard and have at least a 3.5 GPA.
Beyer is the second local swimmer to be selected for the honor. Last week, Columbus North senior Daniel Utterback was recognized.
After competing for East as a sophomore, Beyer spent last winter and spring in southern California training with “The Swim Team,” coached by Mark Schubert, the same coach who trained 2021 Olympian Michael Brinegar. Beyer is back in Columbus this fall while Schubert is on assignment in China.
East selling t-shirts for 50-year anniversary
Columbus East is selling t-shirts at its home football and volleyball games commemorating the 50-year anniversary of the opening of Columbus East High School.
The t-shirt sales are part of a larger fundraising effort that the Columbus East Alumni Association is doing called the Olympian Endowment Fund. The fund will support educational, fine arts and athletics programs throughout the school and its students who are unable to participate in extracurricular activities because of the costs involved.

Hauser Athletics Golf Outing set for Oct. 15
The Third Annual Hauser Athletics Golf Outing will be at 9 a.m. Oct. 15 at Otter Creek Golf Course. Entries must be turned in by Oct. 10.
Cost is $75 per person or $300 for a team and includes lunch. Mulligans, red tees and other amenities will be available for purchase the day of the event, and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, along with various hole prizes.
Multiple donation or sponsorship package options also are available.
