Rachel E. Huff

SHIRLEY

Rachel E. Huff, 77, of Shirley, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 10, 1944 in Vincennes, IN to the late Rev. Wayne H. and Virginia P. (Vandervort) Isaacs.

Rachel was a 1962 graduate of Sand Creek High School (now South Decatur) in Greensburg, IN and attended Ball State University. She worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at Columbus Regional Hospital and in the surgery department at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. As a pastor’s wife, she and her husband served together in ministry for 45 years. They served churches in Hope, Morristown, Pendleton and presently at First Church of the Nazarene in Greenfield. She was faithful, loving, kind and caring, but could be stern if needed. She loved Diet Coke, and especially loved spending time with her family and attending church. Rachel also liked traveling, shopping, getting her nails and hair done, spending time with her grand dog, Cooper, and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rev. David E. Huff of Shirley; two sons, David Wayne (Melody) Huff of Roscoe, IL and Thomas Allen (Heather) Huff of Shirley; grandchildren, Derek Wayne Huff of Indianapolis, Kayla Renee Huff and Kodey Thomas Huff both of Greenfield; sister-in-law, Karen Isaacs of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gary W. Isaacs, great granddaughter, Ashlyn R. Savage Huff Southerland.

Services will be Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at First Church of the Nazarene in Greenfield with Dr. Brian Wangler and Rev. Phil Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Friday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel.
