Jets advance to semifinal

SHELBYVILLE — Eight different Hauser players scored goals Monday night, and Hauser opened sectional play with a 9-0 win against Irvington Preparatory Academy in the opening round of the Southwestern (Shelby) Sectional.

Zach Weichman led the Jets (5-9-1) with two goals and three assists. Alex Bower had one goal and one assist, and Reagan Johnson, Kale Schwartzkopf, Nathan Worland, Hannah Taylor, Nicolas Cabos and Elian Escalante all scored one goal.

Layton Jordan, Lakota Robbins and Ethan House all notched one assist. Will Walters posted two saves.

“We definitely made a lot of progress since the beginning of the year from not having a team,” Hauser coach Barry Grimes said. “Definitely, the players who have never played are gaining some valuable experience and helping us compete and giving us some big minutes on the field. They’ve really just started understanding the things we want to do and have made it happen.”

The Jets will play Indianapolis Lutheran in the sectional semifinals at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Eagles edge Vikings

GREENCASTLE — Brown County avenged a 3-0 regular-season loss with a 1-0 victory against West Vigo in the first round of the Greencastle Sectional.

Carter Norcutt scored the goal off an assist from Silas Campbell for the Eagles (3-10). Bradley Arndt recorded five saves.

Panthers fall to Floyd

SEYMOUR — Jennings County fell to Floyd Central 8-0 in the opening round of the Seymour Sectional.

The Panthers finish the season 2-15.

Warriors oust Trinity

SEYMOUR — Christian Academy of Indiana got five goals from Tyler Doherty in handing Trinity Lutheran a 7-1 defeat in in the first round of the Trinity Sectional.

Andrew Bell scored the goal for the Cougars (3-12-2).

Panthers sweep Raiders

VERSAILLES — Jennings County picked up a 25-12, 25-22, 25-21 victory at South Ripley

Charlee Barlow pounded 11 kills, Zoie Suhre and Avynn Belding each had four blocks, Taylor Mowery notched 17 digs and Abrey Belding served four aces to lead the Panthers (21-8).

Eagles roll vs. Vikings

NASHVILLE — Brown County dominated the first set and cruised in the final two to pick up a 25-5, 25-14, 25-13 Western Indiana Conference win against West Vigo.

Abigail Watson led the Eagles (9-15, 6-3) with six kills, two blocks and five aces. Madilyn Hawley recorded 10 assists, and Londyn Koester and Liz Roush each notched five digs.

Also for Brown County, Milly Patrick tallied five kills, one block, four digs and two aces, and Emma Lucas had five kills and three aces. Anna Stogsdill added six assists and one block, and Hawley and Koester each served two aces.

Floyd tops Trinity in 4

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 4 Trinity Lutheran won the second set, but Floyd Central recovered for a 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 25-21 victory.

Bailey Tabeling led the Cougars (17-8) with 24 kills, 25 digs and five aces. Addison Darlage recorded 43 assists, and Laura Roeder notched 25 digs.

Also for Trinity, Carson Bowling pounded 19 kills, and Drew Hubbard tallied five kills and two aces. Darlage added 12 digs and one ace.
