Tom Wilson, 61, of Columbus, passed away Friday, September 30. Tom was born on January 25, 1961 in Scotland, the son of Ian and May Wilson. He married his wife, June M. Hannah on December 23, 1988.

Tom began his career working for Cummins Engine Company in Shotts, Scotland. In August 1996, he and his family relocated to Columbus, Indiana. Tom was a proud Cummins employee for 44 years.

An avid golfer, Tom enjoyed challenging friends to a round each week. He made sure to keep track of their handicaps to ensure no shenanigans took place, and he maintained his place in the top spot of the rankings.

Tom was also proud of his self-built basement bar, The Bunker, where he invited friends to chat over a dram?or two.

He was generous and kind and brought so much love and joy to those who knew him.

A private funeral will be held Thursday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Rev. Dr. Felipe Martinez officiating. Close friends of Tom and the family are invited to remember him at a gathering at Harrison Lake Country Club later that evening from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

He is survived by his much-loved wife, June; their adored children, Graeme (Renelle) Wilson and Gillian Wilson; loving sister, Joan (Jim) McLachlan and his beautiful newborn granddaughter, Isla.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ian; mother, May and sister, Catherine.

In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place after the funeral service.
