MALE

Parth Shah // Columbus North sophomore tennis player

Shah helped his No. 2 team win 6-0, 6-0 against Brown County and 6-0, 6-0 against Columbus East to help the Bull Dogs to a pair of 5-0 wins and the sectional title.

His performance last week: “We knew coming in we had high expectations, and me and my partner (Parth Gupta) have good chemistry and I feel like we played pretty well.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Besides warmups, I stretch and get ready and make sure I don’t cramp or anything.”

Favorite drink: “Gatorade”

Favorite food: “Pizza”

Favorite class: “Math”

Favorite sports team: “Indianapolis Colts and Pacers”

Favorite athlete: “Novak Djokovic”

Role model: “I look up to our No. 1 singles, Hank Lin. He’s a pretty good player.”

Best advice: “The matches isn’t over until you shake hands with your opponent. You have to keep fighting.”

Athletics goal: “I just want to keep improving tennis-wise.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably anywhere in Europe with my family.”

Erin Williams // Columbus East senior volleyball player

Erin Williams

Williams led the Olympians with 31 assists and five digs in a three-set win against Bloomington South and had 31 assists and four aces in a three-set win at Columbus North.

Her performance last week: “I thought I stepped up my game a little bit. I had been playing a little timid earlier in the season. We’re starting to play better as a team, and it’s really nice to see a lot more teamwork.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I listen to music and try to get in the right mindset before a game.”

Favorite drink: “Cool Blue Gatorade or Dark Blue Gatorade.”

Favorite food: “Mac ‘n Cheese”

Favorite class: “Dental II”

Favorite sports team: “Oregon”

Favorite athlete: “My sister (former East and IU-Kokomo volleyball player Kendal Williams)”

Role model: “My sister Kendal”

Best advice: “Don’t get bitter. Get better.”

Athletics goal: “To get stronger in general.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Belize, because my brother went there, and he showed me a lot of pictures, and I want to go there and explore.”
