COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus firefighters were called to Ford of Columbus for a report of smoke in the building this afternoon, which was eventually traced to a possibly malfunctioning air handler.

The sirens began at about 2:35 p.m. with the fire department initially being sent to 2996 N. National Road, which was determined to be an incorrect address, and firefighters were then re-directed to a personal-injury accident at 2995 Central Ave., said Capt. Mike Wilson, Columbus Fire Department spokesman.

Firefighters were then redirected at 2:43 p.m. to Ford of Columbus at 3040 N. National Road, which came as in as a structure fire. After determining the issue was the air handling unit, firefighters disconnected it and cleared smoke out.

No injuries were reported.
