COLUMBUS
Elmer T. Meredith, 80, of Columbus passed away early Saturday morning at his home, he had been ill since surgery in September 2022. He can now rest in peace where only the angels come to call.
Elmer was born August 1, 1942 in Columbus, the son of Elmer C and Violet Crowhorn Meredith; later moving to Westport. He graduated from Sandcreek High School and went into the United States Navy from 1957 to 1963. He retired from Cummins Engine Company after 30 years service as a machine repairman.
He met and married Sharon K. Sparkman in 1963, they were married 58 years, living most of those years in Ogilville, Indiana. They have no children, but many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon K. Meredith of Ogilville; brothers, Robert Meredith of Union City, IN and Henry (Barbara Simmons) Meredith of Hope, IN
He was preceded in death by infant brothers and sisters, Isabel, Joan, Barbara, Gladys and Clifford.
A private graveside service will be conducted by Virgil Clotfelter at Garland Book Cemetery for family and close friends. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
