Suspect arrested again for trespassing, warrant

Kent

A local man who was recently arrested for trespassing was arrested again by officers from the CPD Intelligence Led Policing Unit on Wednesday afternoon. The unit which is comprised of officers from the Columbus Police Department and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office focuses on crimes involving repeat offenders in the community.

Officers received an arrest warrant for Michael O. Kent, 33, of Columbus based upon their investigation and subsequent arrest of Kent on Oct. 21, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

On Wednesday afternoon at about 5:30 p.m., ILP officers responded to the same apartment complex in the 400 block of South Gladstone where Kent was located and arrested last week, Harris said.

When officers arrived they again located Kent hiding inside a residence at the apartment complex. Kent was arrested on the warrant and the officers confirmed that the trespass warning for the apartment complex was still in place.

Kent was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of the warrant for illegal sex offender registry violation and two counts of trespassing, Harris said.

Kent was being held in jail in lieu of $85,000 bond, jail officials said.
