Columbus Icemen tie three games, win one

Several Columbus hockey teams were in action last weekend.

Columbus Icemen Varsity tied Homestead 1-1, Leo 2-2 and Culver B 2-2 and beat Valparaiso 12-2. Alex Clark and Carter Green each netted four goals and four assists; John Ferguson recorded two goals and three assists, Eduardo Aranda Michel had two goals and two assists; Drew Weed and Barrett Mudd each added one goal and two assists; Cole Finney notched one goal and one assist; Calijah Kenney and River Degner each scored one goal, John Merritt had four assists; Caleb McGhehey contributed three assists and Tristan Tyner, Dane Weinzapfel and Caden Graham all added one assist. Ben Blanz was in net two games and saved 29 of 33 shots for a save percentage of 87.88%. Jacob McMullen was in net 2 games and saved 31 of 34 shots for a save percentage of 91.18%.

Columbus Icemen Prep beat Crown Point 4-2. Jayden Pagan netted one goal and two assists, Cole Vreeland had one goal and one assist, Blake Avery and Kaitlyn Netser each scored one goal and Eric Zang and Bryce McDonald each added one assist. Sydney Morrow recorded 18 saves out of 20 shots for a save percentage of 90%.

Columbus Flames 14U A swept South Indy 3-1 and 6-1. Will Jamerson netted four goals and one assist; Lance Kitterman had two goals and one assist; Ashton Nguyen scored two goals; Sawyer Patterson notched one goal and four assists; Tyler Teague had three assists and Lane Barringer, Uriah Oliphant and Simon Barnes all added one assist. Lane Barringer was in net.

Columbus Flames 14U B played Columbus Mavericks and lost 5-3 and won 2-1 and swept Miami 6-3 and 2-1. Ryan McGhehey scored seven goals; Zane Lynch netted two goals and four assists; Jack Treesh scored two goals; Bryson Moore and Noah Doig each added one goal; Carter Kareus had two assists and Preston Bell, Jonathan Tuttle and Cooper Ross all added one assist. Gabe Marsh was in net two games, saving 53 of 55 shots for a save percentage of 96%, and Keegan Bishop was in net two games, saving 31 of 39 shots for a save percentage of 79%.

Columbus Flames 12U AA fell to Kirkwood Stars 3-2, beat Midwest Blackbirds 7-1 and lost to Rockford Rams 6-4. Brooks Larsh netted five goals and five assists, Carter Davis recorded four goals and three assists, Logan Barringer notched one goal and two assists, Bentley Hampton had one goal and one assist, Maddox Coy and Rowan Correll each scored one goal, Ethan Neumann had two assists and Garrett Uy and Henry Schloemer each added one assist. Canyon Long saved 77 of 86 shots for a save percentage of 89.5%.

Columbus Flames 12U B fell 5-2 and won 3-2 and swept Dayton Stealth 4-1 and 9-3. Henry Jamerson netted 10 goals and one assist, Nolan Sparkman notched five goals and one assist, Clare Neff had two goals and three assists, Graham Barnes tallied one goal and three assists and Eli Dykstra and Colby Payne each added one assist.

BROOMBALL

CCA, MOR stay unbeaten

CCA and Monsters of Rock improved to 2-0 with wins last week in the Columbus Broomball League.

CCA beat Toyota Tsunamis 6-1. Ricky Hooten and Greg Thomas each scored two goals, and Tim Walton and Scott Herron each added one for CCA. Greg McNealy had the goal for Tsunamis (0-2).

Monsters of Rock topped Our Name is Earl 4-1 behind two goals from Zach Henderson and one each from Rob Jones and Kyle Roshak. Noah Marsh scored for Earl (1-1).

Hansons edged Jennings County BC 2-1. Matt Psota netted both goals for Hansons (1-1). Nick Hill scored for Jennings (0-2).
