Crusaders notch first win

Columbus Christian picked up its first win of the season, a 48-41 triumph against Martinsville Tabernacle Christian on Tuesday.

The Crusaders (1-1) built a 35-12 halftime lead and still led 41-21 after three quarters and were able to hold on.

Sarah Lorimor led Columbus Christian with 31 points. Madi Blair added six.

Warriors oust Lancers

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh fell to Whiteland 71-30 in the opening round of the Johnson County Tournament

Gracie Crawhorn led the Lancers (2-3) with 16 points. Cloee Britton added six.

Cougars fall to Raiders

VERSAILLES — South Decatur took a 51-27 loss at South Ripley.

Kiley Best scored 10 points, and Molly Eden grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Cougars (3-2).

Braves top Trinity

BROWNSTOWN — Class A No. 4 Trinity Lutheran opened its season with a 59-43 loss at Brownstown Central.

Bailey Tabeling led the Cougars with 21 points, becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer. Jordan Brewer added nine.

Olympians take third

NEW ALBANY — Columbus East finished third behind Floyd Central and Jeffersonville in the New Albany Relays.

Saya Hauser, Claire Brooks, Ali Trueblood and Josie Havenaar finished second in 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:00.01. The Olympians third in 800 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay, diving relay and 200 breaststroke relay.
