North notches first win
SEYMOUR — Columbus North picked up its first win of the season Saturday, a 52-40 victory at Seymour.
The Bull Dogs (1-2) jumped out to a 10-2 lead after one quarter and built the martin to 18-13 at halftime and 34-15 after three quarters.
Cooper Horn led North with 14 points. Luke Harmon scored 13, and Tyler Blythe added eight.
Millers topple Olympians
NOBLESVILLE — Columbus East fell behind early and endured a 72-43 defeat at Noblesville.
Ben Sylva led the Olympians (0-2) with 15 points.
Crusaders top Eagles
Columbus Christian outscored Brown County 21-9 in overtime to pull out an 81-69 win against Brown County.
The Crusaders (2-1) rallied from a 30-20 halftime deficit to take a five-point lead in the fourth quarter. But the Eagles’ Eli Wrightsman hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send it to overtime.
Peyton Walden led Columbus Christian with 31 points. Jordan Burton scored 20, Noah Edwards had 11 and Cam Pritchard added eight.
Wrightsman scored 25 to lead the Eagles (0-2). Weston Fulford scored 11, Caleb Hammond had 10 and Noah Lewis and Jesse Hubbard each added eight.
Lancers down Braves
EDINBURGH — Indian Creek cut a 16-point second-quarter deficit to four, but Edinburgh it 23 or 30 free throws in the fourth quarter to claim a 65-55 victory.
Jarrett Turner led the Lancers (2-0) with 20 points. Caleb Dewey scored 14, Connor Ramey had 12 and Braylon Bryant added eight.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
East falls to Bollingbrook
BROWNSBURG — Columbus East was within 29-22 at halftime, but Bollingbrook (Illinois) outscored the Olympians 28-7 in the third quarter to pull away for a 66-43 victory.
Saige Stahl led the Olympians (4-4) with 22 points and had nine rebounds. Leah Bachmann added 12 points and 10 rebounds.*
Wildcats stop Bull Dogs
INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North was within 29-26 at halftime, but Lawrence North pulled away for a 60-50 win.
Hadassah Hurt led the Bull Dogs (4-3) with 13 points. Lauren Barker scored 11, and Miley McClellan added 10.
Columbus Christian wins
Columbus Christian and Crothersville were tied 36-36 after three quarters, but the Crusaders outscored the Tigers 20-6 in the fourth to claim a 56-42 victory.
Lauren Sanders led the Crusaders (3-2) with 18 points. Sarah Lorimor scored 11, and Emma Murray added nine.
Shiners edge Jets
RISING SUN — Hauser was tied with Rising Sun 20-20 at halftime, but the Shiners pulled out a 47-43 victory.
Madelyn Poe led the Jets (2-3) with 21 points. Kyliegh Parrott and Kenze Bostic each added six.
SWIMMING
Panthers sweep Frogs
North Central swept a dual meet from Columbus North, winning the boys contest 116-64 and the girls meet 131-53.
The Bull Frogs had two event winners on the boys side. Carson Shoop took the diving competition with 124.85 points, and Daniel Utterback captured the 100-yard butterfly in 54.49 seconds. Robert Cantu finished second in diving (119.85), Jude Abadallah took second in the 500 freestyle (5:21.66) and Brock Smith was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.08).
Ella Gray Partin led the girls with a second-place finish in diving (154.15)
