Deputies apprehend Columbus suspect after foot pursuit

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a local man on a Level 4 felony warrant after a foot pursuit.

At 4:41 p.m. Sunday, deputies attempted to serve the warrant for dealing in methamphetamine on Sean Cobb, 42, Columbus, deputies said.

Upon deputies arrival to a residence in the 4300 block of West County Road 500S, Cobb was seen walking outside near a garage and parked RV. Deputy Nathan Holland gave Cobb a verbal command to stop however Cobb began running south bound into a corn field initiating a foot pursuit, deputies said.

Cobb was given multiple commands to stop by multiple deputies and continued to flee until taken into custody by Deputy Maximino Medina. During a search of Cobb’s person, suspected narcotics were located, deputies said. Cobb was uninjured during the foot chase and was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for medical clearance due to recent narcotics use before being remanded into the jail, deputies said. In additional to his original warrants for narcotics offenses, Cobb was charged preliminarily with resisting law enforcement and an additional narcotics offense.

Cobb was being held without bond due to multiple dealing narcotics warrants as well as his additional charges stemming from this incident, said Detective Dane Duke, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
