GIRLS BASKETBALL

East falls to Red Devils

JEFFERSONVILLE — Columbus East played without starting point guard Allison Craig, who was sick, and dropped a 67-60 Hoosier Hills Conference decision Saturday at Jeffersonville.

The Olympians (5-6, 0-2) fell behind 23-12 after one quarter. They rallied to take a 57-55 lead, but the Red Devils finished the game with a 12-3 run.

Saige Stahl led East with 27 points and 15 rebounds. Leah Bachmann added 10 points and five assists, and Maeleigh Roberts scored nine points.

Panthers pick up win

NEW ALBANY — Jennings County led only 26-22 at halftime before pulling away for a 69-53 HHC win at New Albany.

Maddie McIntosh led the Panthers (7-2, 2-0) with 17 points. Mollie Ernstes scored 16, Juliann Woodard had 10 and Manto Vadell added eight.

Lancers edge Indians

MILAN — Edinburgh rallied from a 27-17 halftime deficit to post a 45-42 win at Milan.

Gracie Crawhorn led the Lancers (5-6) with 26 points. Kenna Streeval added 12.

Arrows top Eagles

SULLIVAN — Brown County saw its four-game winning streak come to an end with a 68-60 Western Indiana Conference loss at Sullivan.

Lexie Austin led the Eagles (5-5, 2-3) with 21 points. Maddie Huff scored 13, and Ava Stogsdill added 10.

Trinity tops Orleans

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 4 Trinity Lutheran rolled to a 62-40 win against Orleans.

Bailey Tabeling led the Cougars (8-1) with 17 points. Liza Froedge and Madison Keith each scored 15, and Jordan Brewer added 10.

Jets fall to Hornets

HENRYVILLE — Hauser was within 17-15 at halftime, but Henryville pulled away for a 52-40 victory.

Jake Barriger and Taeshaun Tungate each scored nine points to lead the Jets (2-2). Ledger Gelfius added eight.

Eagles slip past Cougars

OSGOOD — South Decatur led 18-16 after one quarter, but Jac-Cen-Del rallied for a 57-52 victory.

Jacob Scruggs led the Cougars (2-2) with 29 points. Dale Peters added 12.

SWIMMING

East girls take fourth

SHELBYILLE — Columbus East’s girls finished fourth out of seven teams in the Shelbyville Relays. Yorktown won with 136 points to 122 for Pendleton Heights, 104 for Mt. Vernon and 100 for the Olympians.

East’s Hannah Dean, Ali Trueblood, Gabbie Meier and Saya Hauser finished second in the 200-yard medley relay in 2 minutes, 13.03 seconds. The Olympians also took third in the 800 freestyle (10:27.36), 400 medley (4:51.14), 375 freestyle (4:25.63), 1,000 freestyle (12:20.84), 150 backstroke (1:38.54) and 150 breaststroke (1:49.64) relays.

The East boys did not compete.

WRESTLING

Olympians go 1-3

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus East went 1-3 in the Falcon Duals at Perry Meridian. The Olympians fell to No. 6 Carmel 39-21 and Greenfield-Central 33-23, beat Fort Campbell (Kentucky) 69-12 and lost to No. 7 Perry Meridian 48-19

Jackson Fox (195 pounds) and Tommy Morrill (220) each went 4-0 for East. Gage Rutan (120), Liam Krueger (126), Pat McMahon (285) all went 3-1.
