COLUMBUS
Sharon Lynn Herzberger, 77, of Columbus, went to be with the Lord Friday morning, December 16, 2022.
Sharon, the faithful mother of three children, grew up in eastern Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois (French/Music). After living in several states throughout the northern plains, the Rockies, and the south, she settled with her family in Indiana in 1983.
Sharon taught in the Seymour school district teaching music (St. Ambrose school), Spanish, and French and retired after 22 years, with most of her time teaching at Seymour Senior High School in Seymour, IN. She was an active member of Bible Church of Columbus and could often be found playing the piano and reading news and politics. She was also active as a volunteer for the Bartholomew County Board of Elections. Sharon will be remembered for her dutiful commitment to her children and grandchildren, her church, and her Savior. Sharon loved traveling (with at least six trips to Europe) and enjoyed her flowers and Bible studies with friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2022 at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street in Columbus, IN, with Pastor David Marvin officiating. Calling will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.

She is survived by her sons, Thaddeus of Albuquerque, NM, and Zachary (Kristin) of Mansfield, OH; her daughter, Alicia (Kevin) Rankin of Columbus, IN; seven grandchildren; brother, Philip Landes; sister, Virginia (Roger) Newman; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Herzberger was preceded in death by her parents and Lee, her husband of 44 years who passed in May of 2012.
