INDOT to have overnight lane closures on I-65 south of Columbus

Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction plans to conduct overnight lane closures starting tonight to remove and install barrier wall, complete shoulder work, and shift southbound traffic as part of the $65 million added travel lanes project south of Columbus.

  • Thursday, Jan. 12 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.): I-65 northbound left lane closure between mile marker 67 and mile marker 68.5 for shoulder work
  • Friday, Jan. 13 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.): I-65 southbound left lane closure between mile marker 69 and mile marker 67.5 for shoulder work
  • Sunday, Jan. 15 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.): I-65 southbound alternating left and right lane closures between mile marker 68.5 and mile marker 64.5 to install pavement markings and shift southbound traffic

Sunday’s traffic shift will move southbound traffic back to southbound lanes throughout the existing construction zone. Traffic will use the right and middle lanes for travel. The left lane will remain closed to allow crews to install median barrier wall.

Drivers are reminded to slow down, use extra caution, and drive distraction-free in and near construction zones. All work is weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
