Lela Maxine Foust

Lela Maxine Foust, 82, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023. Lela was born August 2, 1940 in Columbus, Indiana. She was the daughter of Ralph and MaryAlice (Kendall) Morledge.

She graduated from Columbus High School in 1958. Lela was the wife of David Earl Foust Sr. for 35 years and he preceded her in death. Over the years, she worked at Sap’s Bakery, House and Home Realty, and the Bartholomew County Records Office.

Lela was a member of Ogilville Christian Church and a past long-time member of Burnsville Christian Church. Additionally, she was a member of the Columbus Order of the Eastern Star, O.E.S. #339, Home Ec Future Grandmothers, and the Red Hat Society.

Lela enjoyed playing cards and games, working jigsaw puzzles, word searches, sewing, painting, and crafting. She also enjoyed baking, and regularly participated in the 4-H baking contest with her grandchildren. She loved to entertain and spend time with family and friends, and always looked forward to her weekly visits with her great-grandchildren.

Lela is survived by her daughter, Beverly Turner; her son, David (Melinda) Foust Jr., grandchildren, Terrence (Carrie) Turner, Katlynn (Shawn) Burge, Chasity (P.J.) Browder, Emily (Cody) Surenkamp, and Jon (Courtney) Foust; 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and her brother, Lloyd (Jo) Morledge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, David Foust Sr.

A funeral service for Lela will be held Thursday, January 26 at 11 a.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel with Rev. Virgil Clotfelter and Rev. Martin Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Daugherty Cemetery. Friends and family may gather for visitation on Wednesday, January 25 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with an Eastern Star Memorial Service taking place at 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
