COLUMBUS
Ron E. Greathouse, Sr., 73, of Columbus, passed away at 12:47 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Ron was born November 25, 1949, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Elmer and Laura Mable Hashman Greathouse. On March 1, 1980, he married Freida Mae Reese.
Mr. Greathouse worked for the City of Columbus at the city garage for many years before retiring.
Survivors include his children, Angel (Shawn) England of Seymour, Bridget Greathouse, Ron (Ginny) Greathouse, Jr., Bobby (Michelle) Allen, Naomi Lowell, all of Columbus, Martha (Tony) Soto of Franklin, Paul Allen, also of Columbus; 29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice (Henley) Simmons, Retha Greathouse, Becky (Curtis) Barger, all of Columbus; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Freida; brothers, Larry Greathouse, Jerry Crider; sisters, Vera Collins, Linda Carol and granddaughter, Ahnyae Greathouse.
The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Steve Bell officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
