Part-time Columbus residents Alisha Gaddis and husband Lucky Diaz missed out on adding another Grammy Award to their collection Sunday in Los Angeles. The pair that forms part of Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band were nominated for Best Children’s Album for their release “Los Fabulosos.” (They already have won two Latin Grammys for their kids’ music that musically has attracted top producers).
But Gaddis was a winner in the spotlight. The children’s pop singer, book author and actress made several Grammy best-dressed lists for the night, including those for Vogue, Cosmopolitan, The Los Angeles Times, and others.
Plus, she was featured in Grammy coverage in other national publications such as USA Today’s Monday edition.
Gaddis, who splits time with Diaz and daughter Indiana between Los Angeles and downtown Columbus, wore a Rachel Burke ball gown with a skirt made entirely of flowers.
“The piece was a huge effort to make,” Burke told reporters at the Grammy ceremonies. “But it was worth it to see it gliding down the red carpet.”
Gaddis, who has performed multiple times in Columbus and also all over the world, also captured some of the same attention at last year’s Grammys with a seafoam-style gown.
But much of her focus on her Facebook page Monday morning was about her talented singer, guitarist, book author spouse.
“As the (red) carpet pics roll in — I wanna thank my husband,” Gaddis posted. “My creative partner. My dream team.
“Thanks for believing in us. Our collective and separate visions. Two kids. Doing things.”
Years ago, when Gaddis was doing standup comedy, she performed at The Crump Theater in Columbus. She has retained a sharp sense of humor, sometimes evident through the years in online blog posts.
This marked the second time the duo was nominated for a standard Grammy Award.
