IUPUC softball debuts with DH defeat

Katie Taylor

GRAYSON, Ky. — The IUPUC softball program made its intercollegiate debut on Sunday with a doubleheader at Kentucky Christian University.

The Crimson Pride fell just a little short in both games, with the Knights winning 5-3 and 10-6.

Morgan Steineker had two hits in the opener. Columbus North graduate Rachel Cowan struck out six.

Hauser graduate Katie Taylor had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs in the second game. Cowan and Gracie Hale each had two hits, and Jennings County graduate Katie Mahoney added a hit. Sydney Owens was in the circle.

IUPUC was scheduled to host doubleheaders with Calumet on Friday and Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday at Ceraland, but the Indiana Wesleyan games have been moved to Thursday because of better expected weather conditions. The doubleheader with Indiana Wesleyan is slated to begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, and the games with Calumet are scheduled to begin at noon Friday.
